Ryan Lang, originally from Swift Current, is facing up to 30 years in prison in the United States for acting as a middleman for poker websites, in connection with a US Government crackdown on Internet poker gambling that shut down the three largest online poker companies in that country.

On Tuesday, the 37 year-old Lang pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit tax fraud and violation of the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act, accepting funds in connection with Internet gambling and conspiracy to commit money laundering.

Speaking in US District Court in Manhattan, Lang said between 2007 to 2010 he operated from Canada helping financial brokers who made false statements to the banks to trick them into processing payments.

He apologized for the crimes and will learn his sentence on September 24th.
