On Friday Gull Lake got a little freaky, as the town held the 'Freaky Friday Fundraiser' to raise money for their rink.

The event featured a supper, live and silent auction, and comedians James Uloth and Matt Foster to entertain the crowd, and a dance to end the night.

Sara Kuntz is a member of Gull Lake's rink board and said they held the fundraiser to wrap up the rink season.

"We used it as a fundraiser, but we also wanted to provide something for our users as a place to gather and celebrate the end of the rink season and thank them for supporting us."

She added that overall the event went well as they had over 250 people attend.

"You never really know especially at this time of the year how many you're going to get because farmers could be in the field or people are gone with spring hockey," she said.

"We're pleased with the amount of people that showed up to support our event. It's so awesome because I feel like lately there have just been fundraisers after fundraisers and the fact that people will still come out and support our event and our rink, it just screams volumes about our community."

Kuntz said that she hopes with the money they raised, it can help them out with some projects.

"We have an amazing facility, but it just requires so much upkeep, and we do have a couple of projects on the horizon," she said. "We're just trying to pad our savings fund so we can take care of those and provide a great place for our seaters to come."

She added that they will direct the money towards finishing up repairing the roof.

"We have a leaky roof, and we were lucky enough to get a pretty substantial donation earlier in the season, but it wasn't enough to finish the project so we are hoping that this can go towards repairing our leaky roof."

She added that they picked the 'Freaky Friday' theme because the comedians were available on Friday the 13th.
