Southwest Saskatchewan's brief bout with frostbite is about to conclude, but one more day of chilling wind is in store for the area.

As arctic winds continue to rush through the area, this morning's wind chill low hovers around the -35 C mark, contributing to a risk of frostbite.

The cold air is expected to leave the area soon, as Friday and Saturday are predicted to reach highs of 4 C.

Natalie Hazel, a meteorologist with Environment and Climate Change Canada, said yesterday that today should be treated as though there is a cold warning in effect.

"Not really going to be in the warning criteria, but you should probably behave as though a warning has been issued anyway."

Frostbite, hypothermia, and even heart attacks can occur in cold weather.

To prevent any harm, cover as much skin as possible, wear layers, and keep your body moving to keep body temperature high.
