The Government of Saskatchewan is investing $700,000 in cost-shared grants to community airports across the province for repairs and upgrades.

The Town of Shaunavon is one of 12 communities that will be receiving some of the funds.

Shaunavon Mayor, Grant Greenslade, says "The Airport requires maintenance work done on the lighting system. Over the years the ground has shifted some, and some of the buried cable has stretched and  come to the point where it breaks off and is beyond repair. So, we'll be replacing some of the cables in regards to the lighting system."

Greenslade said the Town is also looking to build up the grass runway and plant grass for easier maintenance.

The repairs and upgrades that the Town is receiving are through the Community Airport Partnership, or CAPP, Program and we will receive a matching grant of $10,000.
