Saskatchewan has received the first of two $31.2 million installments of the Federal Gas Tax Fund for the 2019-20 fiscal year, along with a top up of $61.9 million.

The funds are intended to use for infrastructure projects such as roads or recreation.

The communities of Eastend and Shaunavon are both receiving money through the fund.

Tara Fritz, Chief Administrative Officer for The Town of Shaunavon said that they have not yet chosen where the funds will go. Shaunavon receives $111,682.

The Town of Eastend receives $33,517 and Town Administrator, Edna Laturnis, says the money will go towards their Water Treatment Plant  Project.

Other southwest communities such as Frontier, Gull Lake and Maple Creek are also receiving funds from the Gas Tax.
