Organizers say it's "literally been decades" since a Girl Guides troupe was available in Shaunavon.

The local Girl Guides group is heading into it's second year, and Brenda Waldron from the group says it's an organization that was very needed in the community. She adds, "As good as programs are for ages, and hockey and other sports, it really doesn't fit for every girl. So, this gives them an option. They do a little bit of cooking, a little bit of sewing, they do a little bit of crafts, they learn Internet safety, and they have to interact. The older girls are asked to help with the younger girls as well, so they learn some leadership skills."

Girl Guides is for girls ages five through fourteen years old, and older.

They will be holding their Registration Night on Tuesday September 12th at six thirty p.m. in the basement of the Shaunavon Alliance Church.
