A quartet of green spaces in Swift Current will be revitalized later this month thanks to an annual Go Green event.

Memorial Park is one of the sites that will undergo upgrades during the September 24 event, however, some landscape work has already begun.

"Just to rejuvenate some of the perennial beds, plant some shrubs, and will be putting in new park benches," Michael Newell, parks manager with the city of Swift Current, said. "We are going to be doing work at the Battleford Trail Ruts by Houston Pizza, along the entrance to the city down on Chaplin between 17th and 19th, and then some tree planting up at the Highland Coulee Trail."

The event, which is entering its 11th year, is a partnership between Stark & Marsh, Innovation Credit Union (joined in 2016), and the City of Swift Current.

"Just real glad we're able to pick it back up from after two years off and get it going," Elden Moberg, a partner with Stark & Marsh, said. "We've always felt it's a pretty important project for the community and for us to help out the city."

In 2019, the event didn't run and last year was called off due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
