A tragic fire early last week just east of Shaunavon resulted in a local family losing their barn, as well as all their equipment such as saddles and tack, as well as their winter supply of hay for their three horses.

Maureen Smith, the mother of Jonathan Farewell, has started a GoFundMe page for Jonathan and his wife Kimberely.

She talked about what is most needed saying, "While waiting for insurance to come through, they still need to feed the horses. And the three main things for these horses right now would be food, water, and shelter. They lost all of their winter hay, so they didn't have any. The people in the community have come forward with some, but they still need more."

No other buildings on the property were damaged during the fire, and the animals were in another paddock so all escaped injury.

This morning the GoFundMe page was sitting at $1,685 raised towards their goal of $7,000.
