Around 85 golfers hit the links to support Dorie's House last Friday at Elmwood Golf Club.

No amount totals from the event have been released yet, but the money that was raised will go towards helping reopen the youth shelter.

"We're just building capital to make sure that when we do open, that we have the means to stay open," Charmaine Westbury, a board member for the Southwest Youth Emergency Shelter, said.

The funds raised from the 2nd Annual Dorie's House Charity Golf Tournament will be combined with the money raised at the 4th Annual Southwest Run for Shelter and put into the non-profit account.

Westbury added they've experienced mixed responses from the public since the shelter closed last fall and this is why they want to have as many events as possible.

"That's why we're trying as hard as we can to stay out in the community and talk to people in the community and inform people in the community, that we're still here and we're still working really hard and it is our full intention to reopen those doors," she said.

The host of this year's tournament changed as well from Dorie's House to Len's Plumbing & Heating.
