Support continues to come in for the Lyric Theatre's capital fundraising campaign, as they look to restore the historic downtown theatre in time for its centennial.

Great Plains College made a $1000 corporate donation to the campaign, and have launched a challenge to encourage other organizations to help out. Communications Director Keleah Ostrander says the college's President and CEO David Francis issued a challenge to the staff to contribute to the capital campaign, adding they are up over $300 and expect to raise as much as $500.

The college has now "passed the torch" to Innovation Credit Union to encourage more donations, and Innovation's Executive VP of Marketing Pat Friesen says they're up for the challenge.

The Lyric is looking to raise $500,000 before September 28 when they apply for a federal grant that would match those funds. Earlier this week, they also received a conditional $250,000 grant from the City of Swift Current toward the campaign.
