Guilty pleas were entered in Swift Current Provincial Court yesterday, and following guilty pleas to a number of charges, Nick Neufeld was sentenced to 29 months imprisonment.

On August 18 Neufeld was arrested in Herbert when a vehicle he was in - along with another adult male, two adult females, and an 11-month-old child - was stopped.

Neufeld, in the front passenger seat, and another gave false names. An officer saw he looked like his own photo - there was a warrant out for his arrest - and a subsequent search of the vehicle revealed drugs, weapons, and other incriminating evidence.

Neufeld plead guilty to numerous charges relating to possessing methamphetamine, cocaine, and carfentanil - an opioid mixed with heroin, that is far stronger and more deadly than heroin - for the purpose of trafficking, obstruction, and possession of a weapon.

There were 12.38 grams of meth, 13.55 grams of cocaine, and 13.82 grams of the carfentanil/heroin mix in the car, as well as other pills, bear spray, and brass knuckles, cash, and syringes in the car.

As part of Neufeld's plea bargain, charges to others in the car were stayed.

Neufeld has been on remand in jail since August 18, so he'll have 135 days knocked off his sentence for 90 days already served.
