The big day finally came to Gull Lake as they celebrated Canada’s 150th birthday on Saturday.

54 entries participated in the parade with much more watching on the surrounding streets.

Gull Lake Mayor Blake Campbell spoke about the number of people involved in the parade.

"The sheer number of entries was quite a highlight, a number of people that participated, it was one of the biggest parades we’ve had in Gull Lake, not to mention the crowds that were lined up and down the streets," he said.

The day started off with a pancake breakfast then the parade kicked off around 10:30 am. After the parade, the day was far from over as there were a number of events.

There was a Show & Shine at the school that featured 22 cars, a softball, and golf tournament, and for the kids, there was a bouncy castle as well as mini golf.

The seniors chipped in with a strawberry social, and there was also a trades show.

That was just the day, in the evening there was a supper before everyone piled into the street for the street dance. Fireworks ended what was a busy day at Gull Lake.

Mayor Campbell speaks better of the Canada 150 committee and volunteers that organized and put on what was a spectacular day in Gull Lake.
