It's the night just about every kid, and adult, enjoys every year.

Tonight is Halloween, and the kids will be looking forward to dressing up and trick-or-treating in their town, but safety must always be on the minds of kids and parents.

Christa Huber of the Saskatchewan Safety Council says there will be lots of children out on the streets and sidewalks, and drivers should drive slowly tonight and watch out for the kids.  She adds that costumes should be made of bright fabric so they can be seen at night, and also be flame-retardant.  Once the trick-or-treating is all done, Huber says parents should check over the kids' treats and discard anything that is unwrapped, tampered with, or anything that is homemade by strangers.

There are a couple of events tonight for children young and old.  The 5th Annual Kid's Harvest Festival is at the Alpine Church of God, with games and door prizes available for kids under 12.  Doors open at 6:00pm, and admission is a suggested toonie donation to the Women's Safe Shelter.

The 32nd Annual Kiwanis Spookarama is for the older kids.  The Middle Years Dance is at the Rec Centre from 7:00pm to 11:00pm, and the Senior Years Dance is at the Palliser Pavillion from 8:00pm to 12midnight.  You must present a valid student card for Swift Current, Waldeck, Wymark, Stewart Valley, or Success schools at the door.
