It was a night of splendor in Shaunavon Saturday as a Princess Ball was held to raise money for the Southwest Chronic Disease Support Group.

Exact totals aren't in yet, but the group's funraising committee chairperson Gail Wallis said it went really well.

"All the little girls and princes that were there had a great time. The princesses were awesome. It was a huge success."

The group helps people with costs not covered by health insurance or benefits - things like accomodations or gas mileage.

Wallis said they've given out around $6,000 at this point, but expects demand to increase as more people hear about them.

"We've probably taken in I think we've had nine applications, but it's ongoing. And we've probably given out $6,000. So once it's more known, I think we'll have more applications all the time so we need to be constantly raising money."

The Southwest Chronic Disease Support Group covers Gull Lake, Shaunavon, Climax, Frontier, and Eastend.

Wallis added there's a chance more princess balls are held in the southwest, thought it could move from Shaunavon to another of the communities in the area.
