Shaunavon Fire Crews responded to a Hay Field Fire this past Friday July 14th at about one thirty.

Shaunavon Fire Chief, Dean McNabb, says fire fighters were called out to a hay field twelve miles north of Instow. McNabb says the fire was caused by a swather hitting a rock in the field and the sparks catching the hay on fire.

A neighbor with a water truck was able to keep the flames under control until crews arrived, then the flames were out quickly.

Damage was done to the hay field, but no injuries were reported.

The Fire Chief reminds area residents to play it sale during these very dry conditions, and any area farmers that have water trucks are asked to please make certain the tanks are full in case an emergency arises.
