A southwest Saskatchewan man is facing a baker's dozen worth of criminal charges after an interprovincial crime spree on Labour Day weekend.

The spree began on the night of September 5 in Shaunavon when Herbert's Artsiom Akhverdziyeu stole a white Dodge Ram truck.

After the theft of the vehicle, the 21-year-old then re-appeared on Labour Day in Alberta as he attempted to rob the Irvine Hotel around 1 p.m.

According to an Alberta RCMP report, the male entered the bar reportedly carrying a hammer and then demanded money from an employee.

The employee refused to provide any money and Akhverdziyeu then left the hotel.

He was then seen fleeing the scene in the same truck westbound on the Trans-Canada Highway near Dunmore.

The Redcliff RCMP made multiple attempts to stop the vehicle but to no avail.

He was then located and arrested after fleeing the truck into a field west of Suffield with assistance from the Brooks RCMP and the Redcliff Integrated Traffic Unit.

Akhverdziyeu has been charged with one count each of the following; robbery, flight from police, dangerous operation of a conveyance, mischief under $5,000, operation of a conveyance while prohibited, possession of a stolen vehicle, and possession of property obtained by crime.

He was also charged with four counts of assaulting a police officer and two counts of failing to comply with a probation order.

The 21-year-old was released on a no cash deposit release order after his judicial interim release hearing.

He's now scheduled to appear in Medicine Hat Provincial Court on October 5.
