The $2-million surfacing project scheduled for Highway 21 near Maple Creek has been put on hold for now.

Roughly 30 kilometres of paving was supposed to have started in May and be wrapping up in early July.

Steve Shaheen, the interactive and social media consultant with the Ministry of Highways and Infrastructure, said they didn't receive an update on the project until this week.

"It's likely a contractors scheduling thing," he said. "Because the weather has been reasonable to get stuff done."

As of now, no timeline has been set for the project to begin or be completed.
