mobile hotline

The Highway Hotline's new mobile website as seen on the Apple iPhone's Safari browser

There's a new way to access the latest road conditions in Saskatchewan.

The Ministry of Highways and Infrastructure recently launched a new, mobile-rich website that can be accessed on smartphone browsers, and features some of the same maps and other reports that are on the Highway Hotline's main website.

"It doesn't have quite the functionality of the full site," said Doug Wakabayashi with the Ministry, "but it certainly make it easier to access the road conditions on handheld devices."

Wakabayashi adds they've also introduced new RSS web feeds for road condition information, which he says lets drivers pick up on highway and ferry information that they need to know and get them sent directly to their computers, and there is also a new YouTube channel to help further the Ministry's education and safety efforts.

As always, you can still call the Highway Hotline for the latest road conditions at 1-888-335-7623, or click the road report link on Swift Current Online.
