Weather depending, motorists could see delays this coming week on both Highway 1 and Highway 4.

This is due to work being done by SaskPower setting up the Pasqua (which is just east of Moose Jaw) to Swift Current transmission to deliver power from the Chinook Power Station to customers around the province.

From tomorrow until November 19, two kilometres of Highway 1 east of Herbert will be down to one lane in both directions, with speed limited ot 60 kilometres an hour. And between November 15 and 16 eight traffic stoppages of five to 10 minutes are expected so a helicopter can string lines across the highway.

And from Wednesday to Friday there will be a helicopter stringing lines across Highway 4 about five kilometres north of Swift Current. The only impact to traffic for the Highway 4 work will be during eight short traffic stoppages, according to SaskPower.

"It's delicate work when you're flying a helicopter, and it is sensitive to wind, so there is a possibility that if we run into some bad weather here that work will have to be delayed," said SaskPower Spokesperson Joel Cherry.

SaskPower plans on sharing more information on social media for exact times and dates delays are expected.

"It's a 200-kilometre transmission line. It's going to cost about $250 million and we're hoping to have construction complete spring of 2019, and we're hoping to have it energized by the end of summer 2019," Cherry said.

Two different contractors are being used for the helicopter portion of the project. Valard is doing the flying for Highway 1, and Forbes is taking care of Highway 4.
