'Dora' the tank that sits in front of the Colonel Clifton Centre was vandalized over the weekend.

It was spray painted with the words "Rip Mac. M" after hip-hop artist Mac Miller died on Friday.

Andy Keys, one of the several people that helped restore the tank last summer, said he believes the incident took place on Saturday afternoon or evening.

"It kind of makes my blood boil sometimes," he said. "There is a time and a place for remembering everybody and this isn't the time or place to remember Mac Miller. I'm sure there are places you can, but this wasn't the place. This is a commemorative for the 14th Hussars part of 8th [Reconnaissance] and I think it should just be preserved the way it is."

Earlier this morning Keys along with a few other people headed down to the tank to patch it up.

"We had a little bit of paint leftover from last year," he said. "When I got down here this morning there was already a gentleman down here scrubbing some of the graffiti off, he must have done that and then we covered it up, patched up any other patches that we need, pulled weeds, swept around it, and we're just cleaning up now."

Keys added that he expected something like this to happen at some point after the tank was refurbished last year by volunteers from Keys' paintball team, people from AM Delivery, and some of the cadets.

"I've never really heard of Mac Miller before," he said. "Everybody has a hero; it's just not the place for this guy's hero."
