Weather stripping is great for energy efficiency

SaskEnergy is offering three rural communities a little extra warmth this fall through the Home Energy Legacy Program.

Three communities, with populations under 5,000, will be selected to take part. The two-part initiative will first see SaskEnergy volunteers come in with energy efficient products for homeowners, such as low-flow shower heads, weather stripping on doors and windows and even programmable thermostats.

"There's a $5,000 grant available for the communities to put towards a community energy efficiency project," explained SaskEnergy spokesperson Shannon Doka. "That could be new doors at the local rink or water heater at the community hall. Perhaps you've got a rec centre that needs some extra TLC with a new furnace."

To apply, simply go the SaskEnergy website. The deadline to apply is June 9th.
