NDP Candidate for Rosetown-Elrose, Tom Howe

After a week and a half of campaigning the NDP candidate in Rosetown-Elrose says he's been getting a positive response.

Tom Howe notes there are certain issues that are front and centre in his campaign, such as education with cuts to educational assistants, and healthcare.

The incumbent MLA for the Rosetown-Elrose riding is Jim Reiter of the Saskatchewan Party.

Meanwhile the campaign promises continued to come in yesterday, as Howe's NDP made a firm committment to increased funding for mental health services in the province, if elected.

They say they will work closely with mental health organizations, clients and families to develop a five year strategy to improve mental health services. An additional $45 million would be committed over the next four years toward new approaches and additional services in early counselling and crisis intervention services.

The NDP government would fund 40 additional residential acute care beds as well as 80 transition beds if elected November 7th.

Meanwhile, the Sask Party announced a plan to hire 10 additional police officers to identifying and supervise high risk offenders, hiring additional prosecutors and support staff to ensure violent offenders are prosecuted to the full extent of the law, and the introduction of a GPS monitoring system for high risk, violent offenders.
