Battleford Trail in Swift Current is just one of many streets that have been subject to icy conditions with the recent weather swing

Our local RCMP are noticing an increase in the number of accidents this month.

Icy conditions resulting from warm temperatures melting snow during the day and then later freezing at night has made driving tricky overnight and during morning hours recently. Al Macdonnell with the City Detachment has been noticing most of those accidents occuring in key areas, namely intersections and traffic lights as drivers proceed before it's safe to do so.

So far this month, over 50 collisions have been reported. Well above the monthly average of 30 to 40.
