The number of job openings in our region continues to increase, at least based on numbers from the Provincial Government's saskjobs.ca website.

"In Swift Current alone, what we see is a 46% increase year-over-year," said Advanced Education, Employment and Labour Minister Rob Norris. "There are more than 500 jobs that were offered in the month of April, where as last April, it was just about 370."

Norris says the opportunity leads to interest from other parts of the world, adding in Ontario alone, they saw a 114% increase in visits to the website in April.

Provincewide, the number of job postings for April were up by 38% from the same time last year and stood at 15,500 postings. The highest year-over-year increases in job vacancies were around almost 77% in the categories of trades, transport and construction, and nearly 75% in oil, gas, mining, and farming.
