The Swift Current SPCA's John Mueller Memorial Radiothon had to be relocated indoors to the Swift Current Mall this year due to the rainy forecast, but the donations still poured in.

Despite the change from the usual location at the Bank of Montreal courtyard in downtown Swift Current, donations managed to find their way to this year's venue.

Once the end of the day-long radiothon drew to a close, the Swift Current SPCA was left with a grand total of $18,562 raised.

"An immense thank you to everyone involved at the Swift Current Mall and all of our volunteers, and of course thanks to all who donated today which led us to this total," said Teresa Cole, Development Officer for the Swift Current SPCA. "We can never predict the weather with an outside event so we're really pleased with how things went, considering we had to make the last-minute change."

Cole shares that southwest residents, known for their sense of volunteerism, are more than welcome to continue the support outside the John Mueller Memorial Radiothon.

"We really appreciate the 'people power' that we saw today, so we encourage people to contact us. we've got lots of events running through the year, we sometimes need help at the shelter, and as you mentioned, we're always looking for new board members. So please give us a call if you'd like to be involved with us."
