SCKidSport

May is KidSport Month and Swift Current KidSport runs a number of community events year-round to raise funds and awareness.

Kevin Patenaude, current Board Member of the Swift Current chapter, has been involved with the organization since the 1990's, serving as Acting President for a number of years.

"KidSport has been around since 1996 and through that time period," he says, "we've supported over 2100 local kids and spent over $355,000 on registration. With the dollars that are spent, 100% of those dollars that are raised from our community go 100% to kids and paying for registration."

Swift Current KidSport wants to make sure all kids partake in sports and Patenaude says, "If anybody wants to learn more about KidSport, they can go to our website which is sckidsport.ca. On our website, it will help parents understand what the program's all about, how to apply and give all the details on KidSport. If people wanted to help, they could definitely leave some information on our website."

Working closely with community partners to raise funds, Patenaude says, "We'll do charity breakfasts. We'll partner up with a lot of groups like Tim Hortons and do small cookie. It changes all the time, whatever kind of makes sense, but we're always looking for community partners to help us out."
