The trio of Tim Hortons in Swift Current were a little busy last month selling nearly 13,000 smile cookies for a local charity.

KidSport Swift Current was on the receiving end of the funds generated from the smile cookie campaign which was just a few dollars shy of $13,000.

Chris Keleher, the chair of KidSport Swift Current, said the smile cookie fundraiser is the largest financial contributor to the charitable organization annually.

"There's so many great organizations in Swift Current that - that money, those donations could go to," he said. "It goes a long way. Every dollar, every smile cookie that's purchased, all that funding stays here in Swift Current and it helps local families."

Keleher was quick to mention they're thankful for the generosity of the Fehr and Getzinger family (local Tim Hortons owners) as they continue to donate to KidSport yearly through the smile cookie fundraiser.

This is the 13th year KidSport Swift Current has scored some money from the local Tim Hortons accounting for almost $121,000 over the years.

"That's where we find we get the most applications from families when minor hockey is starting but also with swim lessons starting and indoor soccer and some other activities," he said. "The fundraiser comes at a great time."
