A large group of fans and supporters of the Shaunavon Shadows Football Team came out on Sunday for the announcement of the winner of The Kraft Heinz Project Play promotion.

The Viewing Party at Smith Field in Shaunavon included the CFL game between the Toronto Argonauts and the Montreal Alouettes on the big screen, as well as a barbecue, 50/50, a raffle and minor soccer and minor football scrimmages, as well as a game of flag football.

The announcement, made at half time in the game, awarded the $250,000 grand prize to Belleville Ontario and their Field of Abilities.

Rachelle Dordu, who organized Shaunavon's application, congratulated the community of Belleville and said, that even though Shaunavon didn't win the grand prize, it was still a great day.

She said, "The community spirit is absolutely phenomenal. We have such a great community, and not just right here in Shaunavon, but all the surrounding towns that helped us out and came to support us today. We can't thank everybody enough."

Dordu added that Shaunavon, and the other two competing communities of Calgary Alberta and Antigonish Nova Scotia, will each receive a prize of $25,000 that, she says, will definitely help in the upgrades they are looking to do here.
