Kyle Recreation Director Jaclyn Davis and the Kyle Junior Novice Hockey Team received the $25,000 Community award from Kraft during the TSN Celebration Tour in August.

The Kyle Community Sports Centre is set to open for the season, and it's already been a very eventful year for the facility. Back in August, the rink and the town of Kyle were in the national spotlight as they hosted a stop on the TSN Kraft Celebration Tour, winning a $25,000 community award in the process.

Kyle Recreation Director Jaclyn Davis says that money is already being used to improve the facility, saying they are looking at installing furnaces for the lobby and mezzanine areas, as well as a few more things over the winter. But the support didn't stop there. Davis says a community auction was held on November 5th, where businesses and residents donated any items that they had to sell for the auction, which raised an additional $31,790 from all of those items.

Davis says just like every year, there are a lot of volunteers ready to work in the kitchen, the mezzanine, on the skating and curling ice surfaces, and in general maintenance for the building. The arena is expected to open for the winter in the coming days.
