The water from the Swift Current Creek doesn't need as many chemicals right now because of the lower runoff levels this year.

Mac Forster, the City's Director of Engineering, says once the upgrades on the water treatment plant are finished, the new process that will be used will result in less chemicals and less demand for chemicals in the water treatment process.

Treated water will always be subject to changes in raw water quality, but the treated water will be noticably better after the upgrades are completed.

Forster adds that the upgrades to the water treatment plant will help produce better-quality water.
