A pair of newly-built facilities in the town of Leader will receive a helping hand from a local business.

G-Mac's AgTeam in Leader will make $10,000 in donations to the Leader and District Integrated Healthcare Facility and the G3 Iceplex, after winning $15,000 competing in a contest.

The money was won in mid-February by winning regionals (encompassing all the province's entries) in the online voting contest hosted by Adama.

Upon cashing provincially, they then moved onto nationals, finishing fourth early Thursday morning and falling short of winning another $15,000.

Reid McBride, manager of procurement and marketing with G-Mac's AgTeam, said regardless of their nationals result, the company is still very pleased.

"We're incredibly happy that we can have the $15,000 come to our community," he said. "Trying to drum up more votes in the national round we put up a dollar per vote, up to a cap of $5,000. So we will be giving an additional $5,000."

G-Mac's AgTeam chose the two new buildings in Leader to try to help them finish up their inside work.

"They've done a wonderful job of raising money locally to get those projects underway," McBride explained. "They're sort of at the five-yard line and we're trying to get them over the hump."

Along with the $15,000 they won to donate to two buildings, they were given a trophy to commemorate their contribution to their community.
