Numerous volunteers across southwest Saskatchewan will be rewarded this fall for their efforts.

A few Conservative Members of Parliament recently announced they will be honouring citizens with the Celebrate Canada 150 Medal.

"We want to celebrate the people around here who have been community builders and bring people together," said Cypress Hills-Grasslands MP David Anderson. "Our small communities and our cities don't survive unless there is a group of people that devote themselves to the community. Usually, it's a smaller group of people who are really noticed for their volunteer work or their contributions that they have made. We just want to take a little bit of time to recognize them if we can and that's why we put this process in place."

The nomination process for the medals are now open and will be accepted until September 15, 2017.

There are five different categories for the medals; Nation Builders, Veterans, Tomorrow’s Canada, Bridge Builders and Newcomers Building Canada.

Anderson, a Member of Parliament since 2000 said the medals will be handed out this fall during a ceremony.
