Locals have teamed together to help out family and friends in Northern Saskatchewan.

Local resident Sherry Foster from Larson Construction is currently collecting donations of blankets, tents, food, toiletries and other essentials for a group of about 25 to 30 people evacuating the blaze up north. A donation bin has been set up at Peavey Mart, and Living Sky Casino has set up a donation box for staff.

We have received word that Prince Albert is now full from the amount of evacuees coming to the city, and Saskatoon isn't far off. Currently, people escaping their homes are being sent to Regina while emergency crews battle the fires.

So far, more than three-thousand people have been evacuated from their homes in Saskatchewan due to wildfires in the north -- and that's expected to rise.

Premier Brad Wall says the Prince Albert Grand Council plans to evacuate residents with health issues, which he estimates will drive the total number of evacuees to four- to five-thousand.

The Premier is in Prince Albert visiting some of the evacuees from communities near La Ronge and La Loche.

He says the province has already spent its firefighting budget for the year, but his priority is fighting fires that have sent smoke billowing across the province.

As of this morning, there were 108 active wildfires -- 68 of which are larger than one square kilometre.
