The Town of Shaunavon released their 2019 Consolidated and Capital Budget at their last regular town council meeting.

Shaunavon Chief Administrative Officer, Tara Fritz, talks about one of the capital items the town will be looking at in the coming year. She says, "We're looking at expanding two more additional wells on the UV filtration. We've completed the first phase, Well Number Five, and we'll be watching that to make sure that project is where we want to go with it. And, if it's successful, we'll continue on with an additional two wells."

Other capital items include pulling about three blocks of sewer liners, continuing with their maintenance on paving and slurry sealing, as well as re-capping the entire Trans Canada Trail. That re-capping on the Trail is estimated to cost $35,000.

Fritz says if all the capital and operating expenditures go through as budgeted, the Town is predicting they will be pulling 1.3 million dollars from reserves to balance the budget.
