Twelve local artists have put their work on a CD commemorating the 100th anniversary of the historic Lyric Theatre in Swift Current.

The album was officially launched over the weekend at an event at the Lyric, and is a great way to celebrate the milestone according to Gwen Uher with the Southwest Cultural Development Group.

"Taking us back a hundred years when the Lyric was built that's how all the people that were coming here were excited about coming to the prairies. Now we have people a hundred years later that love the prairies," Uher says.

She adds their centennial celebrations will continue in April with their 'Festival of Excellence', showcasing talent who grew up in Swift Current while pursuing a life in music and the arts. "We have invited Swift Current alumni back to the city. These are people that have pursued a career in the arts... they are coming back to show you can excel when you come from Swift Current.", Uher says

The CD is just $20.00 and available at several local businesses including Fabutan, Optical Image, Cowtown, and Pioneer Co-op.
