On Saturday, award-winning singer Codie Prevost took the stage at the Lyric Theatre for a special fundraiser event - helping two of Swift Current’s youth with medical expenses.

Bella Thomson and Amisha Hockridge both have serious medical conditions requiring help from outside resources. The Lyric Theatre event hoped to ease some of those burdens for the young women.

“When you purchased your ticket, whether it was for Bella or Amisha, we had them write their name on the back of the ticket, that they came and purchased it for them,” Corla Rokocky, Program Director for the Lyric Theatre said. “Each ticket purchase for Amisha was five dollars and each ticket purchased for Bella was five dollars. Both girls are going to receive a $150 donation from the Lyric, as well.”

In addition to raising the funds for the girls, Rokocky said Amisha was also given an opportunity to sing on stage.

“Amisha Hockridge came and actually got a chance to meet Codie then sang a song on stage with him, and she sounded amazing.” she said.

Prevost has been nominated for several Canadian Country Music Awards and won several Saskatchewan Country Music Awards. His performance at the Lyric kicked off his latest album, All Kinds of Crazy, and raised funds for the girls and the Lyric Theatre itself.
