The man involved in Thursday night's motor vehicle collision east of Waldeck on Highway 1, now is facing murder charges.

Kevin Obina Okafor was arrested Thursday evening at approximately 11:30 p.m. after a westbound white pickup truck that he was driving rolled into the ditch.

The Yellow Grass resident is being charged with one count of first-degree murder, following the suspicious death of Abbie Speir, whose body was found Thursday evening following a house fire in Yellow Grass, Saskatchewan.

The 37-year-old Okafor is also facing one count of flight from a peace officer and one count of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle.

RCMP have confirmed that Okafor and 33-year-old Speir were known to each other.

Okafor remains in custody and will appear in Regina Provincial Court on Monday, April 24, 2017, at 9:30 am.
