After nine months of waiting and planning the eighth-annual Market Square is set to kick off Saturday morning.

Marlene Johnson, the executive assistant to the office for the CAO and Mayor's office and as well as the manager for Market Square said she can't wait to get things started.

"Very, very excited. It will our eighth year for the market," she said. "We have a lot of new vendors this year, so we are really excited about that, so we have new food vendors and also we have about 45 vendors spread out throughout the season so we're pretty excited."

This year's Market Square it set to feature plenty of new things, that Johnson said they plan to add new things to the 16-week-long event throughout the weeks.

"We have a lot of theme days that we're going to have," she said. "We want to do a lot of helping people raise funds for non-profit, so we are trying different things to keep it a nice mix."

Market Square will have new start time as it will kick off at 9:30 am and run until 2:30 pm.

"I actually thought that a lot of people want to come down and buy their vegetables and then some of them go to the lake or to the cabin and sometimes waiting to 10 to buy their vegetables," Johnson said. "I just thought it would be nice if we started earlier for those who are passing through."

Johnson said that people can expect much more of the same that made Market Square a hit in the community.

"They can expect to come down and not have to spend a lot of money. You can bring all your children, and they have something to do. We hand out balloons, we hand out free popcorn, we have the bouncy castle, just a lot of things for families," she said. "You can come and pick up your vegetables and it's just a really nice meeting place for the community."
