Minimum wage earners in Saskatchewan are getting a raise.

The minimum wage will jump 25 cents to $9.50 an hour starting today. It is the first increase in two years, and the third since 2007.

While many workers may be happy about the increase, the Canadian Federation of Independent Business is not. The group says the raise will increase the cost of doing business for those in the hotel, food and retail sectors.

A federation spokeswoman says a better idea to help low income earners is to provide education and more tax breaks.
