The overpass deadline of September 30th will come and go without being met by Graham Construction.

Mitch Minken and the City of Swift Current had hopes that another deadline wouldn't be missed.

However, the GM of Infrastructure and Operations says upon review, deadlines weren't the only thing not lived up to.

"We've reviewed some of their work schedules from before. There are times they weren't working the 6 days per week that they had said. They said they'd make those times up and we took them at their word at that time," he said.

Minken also explains that with cold weather around the corner, the ability to lay blacktop and finish the job will not be an issue.

"We could end up in some colder weather but it doesn't need to be 20 degrees. We can lay asphalt in temperatures around 5 degrees.

We anticipate we would be able to get some 5 degree days. Laying the asphalt is probably only a two-day effort - we'll find a window of those days in there," he said.

Graham Construction has decided not to provide a fourth deadline to the City of Swift Current.
