The Angel Tree at the Salvation Army Miracle Room in the Swift Current Mall

The Salvation Army is out to make sure every family in Swift Current has a merry Christmas.

Saturday, they officially kicked off their Christmas Campaign with the grand opening of the Miracle Room at the Swift Current Mall.

Swift Current Mayor Jerrod Schafer was on hand for the ribbon cutting:

Captain Michael Ramsay says the Miracle Room will stay open through the Christmas season, and will again be the home of their Angel Tree: "It's where kids who are in need put their wish list on an angel, and then if you come down and take an angel and fill the wish list, then you can give the child the one thing they were really hoping for at Christmas time."

That's just one way the Salvation Army is helping our community's less fortunate this season. They will also have their Christmas hampers, the community supper on Christmas Day, the Canadian Pacific Holiday Train, which will be stopping in Swift Current on December 7th to help raise money and food donations for the local food bank, and the familiar Christmas kettles.

Ramsay says they are hoping for some strong support from the community again this season:

Right now, kettles are at the Miracle Room, located between The Source and et Cetera et Cetera, as well as Walmart and Pioneer Co-op, with more locations to be added soon. A kettle will also be set up at the downtown Christmas Tree lighting on November 24th.
