A collection of enthusiasts made their way out to the Dixon Community Centre to take in a hobby showcasing art, attention to detail, and Swift Current itself.

The Speedy Creek Model Railway Club hosted an open house at that location to showcase the work that they put into their models.

Locations such as Swift Current's train stations, and other Saskatchewan landmarks such as clay banks and a coal mine were showcased in the diorama surrounding the numerous trains circling the display.

The organization has been in their new location at the centre since October, and the group's President, Pat Newburgh, said that it had taken them a lot of late nights to build their display to the level they are at now.

"Its an art," the model enthusiast said. "It is a fun art. You can do anything you want on there, and go as far as you want for details."

He said that they still have a long way to come when it comes to adding intricacies to their display.

Newburgh said that he would like to see the club grow in members and continue to expand on their love for the art of model trains.
