Construction work is continuing at ACT Community Park in Swift Current this fall, with the city is working to rebuild the washrooms and outdoor rink change rooms.

"Now that we have an accessible park, we're going to convert the existing change rooms and washrooms to all accessible washrooms, so we can accomodate all persons with mobility challenges," said Dean Robson, General Manager of Community Services for the City of Swift Current. "The outdoor rink surface for skating of all sorts remains the same, and will be ready to go when it freezes."

The new washrooms will be the latest improvement to the park this year after a new accessible play structure was installed and opened.

"That park has just been so well-utilized by people of all ages and abilities, and it's really been exciting to see," Robson added. "With the brand-new pour-n-play surface, which is virtually the only one of its kind within a couple-hundred miles of Swift Current, it's a key to our parks system, and we're pretty proud to have it."

The city also put in a paved parking lot on the south end of the park, which is expected to be ready for use by next year.
