By March, smokers will be seeing new packaging on their cigarette boxes.

The government has made good on last winter's promise to take a more serious approach to smoke labels, and 75% of cigarette packages will now be labelled with stories and pictures of cancer victims.

Jim Chauvin with the Canadian Public Health Association says they will continue to do what is necessary to curb smoking habits.

He adds that there are still 5 million people who smoke in Canada. Every 10 minutes, two Canadian teenagers start smoking and every 11 minutes, a Canadian dies from tobacco use.
