The Chinook School Division will have a new athletic coordinator for the upcoming school year.

Val Gordon, who taught in Eastend the past 31 years, is taking over after Deb Reamer spent 11 years in the role, and Gordon said she hopes the transition goes smoothly.

"That's what I hope, is that people don't really realize there's been a major change in this role, that we just keep trudging along as well as we've been doing for the last 10 years under Deb's leadership."

Gordon just got back from Brandon, Man. where she was working as a Level Four Sask Athletics official through the Southwest Association, and said despite the heat (40-degree weather at the track) she loves being involved with sports.

But after over three decades in a classroom, she's looking forward to the change.

"It becomes a part-time position which is kind of what I was looking to transition into. Sport administration is something I've loved my whole career, so the opportunity came up and it's going to be a natural fit for where I am and my stage of my career."

Gordon hopes to have some supply shifts coming up, but the main priority is keeping things rolling in athletics.
