There is some disappointment in the Cypress Health Region after last month's provincial budget did not include approval for a new long-term care facility in Swift Current, or a new integrated health facility for Leader.

CEO Beth Vachon said it was a matter of priorities for the province, “There is a significant amount of investments happening right now in capital projects around the province. More than we've ever seen. Disappointment, yes, but we certainly understand the commitment that is out there right now.”

Vachon adds, “They are continuing to support and commit to the projects they've already announced so of course in our region that's Maple Creek. Then looking at some of the big provincial resources that are being undertaken right now, the Saskatoon Children's Hospital, looking at Saskatchewan Hospital in North Battleford, as well as a new Hospital in Moose Jaw, and there is work happening in Prince Albert Parkland Health Region.”

Vachon said the province understands what's needed in the southwest and they are being patient and waiting to see how everything turns out.
