The province is celebrating the addition of more than 900 nurses since 2007-2008, which includes 19 full time equivalencies in the Cypress Health Region.

Recruitment & Retention Coordinator Jessica Giesbrecht says those positions were assigned to specific areas of the region, which include nurse practitioners for primary health care sites in rural areas, medical/surgical departments, critical care, and staff educators, just to name a few.

In addition to the new positions, Giesbrecht says they've hired 68 new nurses and lost 63 of them over that same time frame.

She says they still have some vacancies to fill throughout the region and are actively recruiting.
