Advanced polls are underway for Thursday’s Swift Current byelection, and tonight is the all-candidates’ forum.

The Saskatchewan Party’s Everett Hindley, the NDP’s Stefan Rumpel, the Liberal's Aidan Roy, and the Green Party’s Maria Lewans will all have 10 minutes to introduced themselves and their platforms before fielding questions from the floor at the Living Sky Casino Event Centre.

The advance polls opened Friday and after three days, 946 ballots have been cast. They are closed Wednesday.

Tim Kydd of Elections Saskatchewan said that's a lot of activity so far, especially for a byelection when voter turnout is traditionally lower.

"Over the first three days of advance voting, we're seeing quite an increase in turnout from the advanced voting's first few days of the general election, back in 2016. So we had 345 ballots cast on Saturday and another 310 on Sunday. Those numbers are significantly higher than what we saw for the first three days or advanced voting for the general election."

The candidates are vying to fill now-retired-Premier Brad Wall’s old seat. Byelections are also underway in Kindersley and Melfort.

Tonight’s action kicks off at 7 p.m.
