Southwest Saskatchewan residents over the age of 17 will have their chance to help someone in need today.

Starting this afternoon at 3 p.m. Bridgeway Community Church in Swift Current will be hosting a two-day blood donor clinic that runs until Tuesday afternoon.

"Blood donation is the most direct way that you can help and give back to your community," said Kathryn Wasylynka, Territory Manager for Canadian Blood Services. "It's easy to do, only take about an hour and like I said one of the best way's you can help someone in the community."

Canadian Blood Services in Saskatchewan tries to collect approximately 45,000-50,000 units of blood each year to help patients in Saskatchewan and throughout the country.

"Southwest Saskatchewan is fantastic (at donating)," Wasylynka said. "Swift Current is one of the best performing mobile clinics we have. The people there are so generous with their time and their blood. We can't say thank you enough."
