As of yesterday, it's not just a battle between the Swift Current Broncos and Moose Jaw Warriors in round two of the WHL playoffs, but a battle between two mayors as well.

For the second time in back-to-back seasons, Swift Current Mayor Denis Perrault and Moose Jaw Mayor Fraser Tolmie have agreed to a friendly wager backing their hometown teams.

"It's exciting and you know it's fun," Perrault said Friday afternoon. "When we're only an hour and a half apart from a city, it's great that we can have that friendly rivalry... We've had lots of fun with this and I'm sure there will be some more little banter going back and forth through social media."

Perrault is 2-0 in sports bets with Tolmie in the last 12 months as the Broncos defeated the Warriors last year in the playoffs and the Swift Current 57's also upended the Moose Jaw Miller Express last summer in the WMBL playoffs.

The mayor who loses the bet would have to fly the opposing team's flag at city hall and sport the opposing team's jersey at a city council meeting. Both mayors have agreed to enjoy a Steenburger if they lose as well.
